Tourist Trap, NYC

Tourist Trap, NYC is a video web series that follows touring poets to some of New York’s top tourist destinations, as well as lesser known bars, reading venues and unheralded back streets. Each episode features one or two poets as they explore the city, discuss their work, how urban landscapes influence their writing, the history or importance of landmark they’ve chosen to visit, as well as any conversations they might deem relevant along the way. Each episode culminates with a short reading at their destination of choice.

Our goal is to introduce writers to new audiences, as well as show NYC (and eventually other cities) as integral to writing communities, inspiration and as an environment of classical and post-modern art, much like modern poetry. Each episode, although formatted similarly, will have a style all its own.

Tourist Trap episodes are produced by Eye For An Iris Press with help from Coldfront Magazine. The episodes will be available for viewing on YouTube, as well as in the Features section on Coldfront.
